  • Improved concentration.
  • Encouragement and development of the imagination.
  • Promote an environment that leads to reduced bullying and aggressive behaviour.
  • Stronger sense of self and higher self-esteem.
  • Contribute to the child's enjoyment at school.

The Massage in Schools Programme is in over 30 countries worldwide.

The programme is divided into two main aspects.  First there is the massage routine that the children are taught and practice on each other over their clothes.  I encourage teachers to practice this routine every day, so it becomes second nature.  Second is the aspect of including touch and movement with learning, since children can integrate information and learn much more effectively if their body and whole being are involved.

The child who benefits from massage, will also likely experience improved relationships with peers, parents and siblings, as well as their teachers.

What the children had said after their massage lesson:

"I feel happier" / "I feel more relaxed" / "I feel warm and cosy inside / "Massage has helped me with my reading and writing" / "I feel peaceful" / "Massage makes me feel grateful" /  "I feel more focused" / "I massage my family and am teaching my family how to massage"

What the teachers say about M.I.S.P.

"It was very calming and helped the children to understand positive elements of touch, when often their experience can be negative, i.e. fighting in the playground" - Year 3.

"It was wonderful to see the children being so sensitive, caring and well mannered to each other and it really calmed them down in preparation for learning.  I would definitely recommend the programme" - Year 3.

"Noreen has a lovely calm manner that she communicates to the class" - Year 2.

"They use the strategies in other situations to calm themselves" - Year 2.

"The children have really enjoyed the sessions, they have been the highlight of their week" - Year 4.
